The North African nation Algeria have won the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with a had fought 1-0 victory over Senegal in the finals played on Friday night.
Algeria striker “Baghdad Bounedjah” scored the only goal of the match with a freak goal in the 3rd minute when his shot took a huge deflection off Salif Sane and looped over goalkeeper Alfred Gomis.
On the other hand, Senegal, who have never won the competition, were awarded a penalty for handball in the second half but it was overturned after a thorough VAR review.
the Algerians team defended their their game all through the second half to win their first title since 1990.
Senegal team, were making only their second appearance in the final since 2002, they played quite well and dominated for large periods but struggled to make the most of their possession.
